SolidWorks XDesign Challenge
Background:
SolidWorks XDesign is a cloud based 3D modeling software created by SolidWorks. In order to generate excitement for the then upcoming FRC season: Destination Deep Space. We designed a challenge for the teams and created all the documenting and videos that helped explain the challenge.
XDesign Challenge Lunar Landing
The workshop was for 100+ FRC teams to design and present a lunar landing creation designed entirely in XDesign. The project was split into 5 phases: onboarding, challenge explanation, submission, judging, and winner announcements.
Onboarding
During the onboarding phase, we had to educate the mentors and team members how to onboard onto XDesign platform. In order to seamlessly do this, I recorded, scripted, and edited a video dedicated to teaching students how to create a team’s account and start using the XDesign Platform.
Challenge Explanation and Theme Announcement
My first and only acting role was started here during the XDesign Challenge Theme Reveal. I was a part of the team who starred in the videos where we shared the lunar landing theme and explained the submission rulesets.
Submission and Judging
The second video I edited was teaching the FRC teams how to submit their lunar landing projects to our team at Dassault Systemes. I was responsible for recording, starring, and editing the video that was shared with the team. After submission, we scanned and checked each lander to confirm they fit the criteria prior to judging.
Judging
The landers were judged by SolidWorks Executive team. They were judged based on appearance, intricacies, community involvement, and creativity.
Winner Announcement
Finally, we announced the winner, which was shared with the teams via video. The winner was Team 1902 Exploding Bacon!
