Animal Prosthetic 3D Scan

Background:

Professor contacted Abhishek Bali (3DExperience Lab Manager) to create an STL of the dog’s deformed leg.

STL will be used in her design class’s STL for designing and manufacturing dog prosthetics which would fit the dog’s leg and design a business plan around that.

Problem:

The professor only had a molding of the dog’s deformed leg. She wished to create a 3D model which she could share with the class in order to properly design prosthetics.

Actions:

A Creaform HandyScan 3D in combination with VXElements were used to create a STL of the model.

Problems Faced:

There were no major issues faced when scanning this object. Due to its light coloring and easily accessible shapes, I did not struggle to scan this object. My previous experience with the bike scan and engine block allowed me to address the project in the best way.

Results:

Created an accurate STL of the dog leg casting to be used in their designs, prototyping, and documentation of proposed prosthetic businesses.

Personal Growth:

Reaffirmed my confidence in my experiences and decisions because of the swift turnaround and little problems faced.
